Unilever Receives ’Halal Assurance System’ Certificate from LPPOM MUI
Jakarta, 6 April 2011 – PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk, the company which produces well known food brands such as Blue Band, SariWangi, SariMurni, Wall’s ice cream, Kecap Bango, Royco, Knorr, Skippy, Taro, and Buavita, received the ‘Halal Assurance System’ Certificate from the Agency for Assessment of Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics, The Indonesian Ulemas Council (LPPOM MUI) today in Hall D, Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran.

This ‘Halal Assurance System’ Certificate is given to a company which holds a Halal Certificate, and has implemented the Halal Assurance System in accordance with LPPOM MUI rules and has passed the Halal Assurance System audit three times with good Halal Assurance System status (an A score).

Sancoyo Antarikso, Person-in-Charge for the Halal Assurance System at PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk said, “This Halal Assurance System Certificate, which we received from LPPOM MUI is a form of our commitment to give the community safety and comfort when using our products. As a company which had grown and developed in Indonesia for more than 77 years, PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk is committed to conduct business in a responsible way, in accordance with prevailing regulations.

PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk was the first company to receive a Halal certificate from the Indonesian Ulemas Council in April 1994.
This Halal Assurance System Certificate means that all production processes at PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk are already in accordance with the Halal Guidelines from LPPOM MUI, from selection and sourcing of raw materials, processing, storage, to distribution.
